not necessarily as long as the coolent system is ok and still circulating it wouldnt over heat

Try and give it a good run before buyig it, if it clears all well and good if not walk away.

Will give it a good run tomorrow and see what it is like on return. A good run should be how many miles and should I really hammer it?

Depends if the owner is going with you or not!  Go as far as you can would be best.

Nope but a good mixed run of around 20miles if you can.
