The Pioneer AVIC-X1 has CD/DVD and Sat nav in one Din sized unit, but from what I've heard they're not the most reliable units on the market as the brain part of it dies. also the nav isn't the best either. I haven't begged work enough to loan me one yet, but when I do I'll let you know.
My boss has the Kenwood KVT-725 screen hooked up to the DV3200 nav unit hidden away. he recons that's much better than the AVIC. if you can splash a little more cash get to KVT-925 as that's got built in Tv tuner which will keep the kits happier.

I have a Flip-out screen (Pioneer) which is DVD player (you can add TV tuner module as well).
You can hook up the Pioneer Sat nav unit to this, which then interfaces through the touch screen (like this)

I think this is a good solution - it leaves the slot in the headunit free for a CD/DVD rather than ejecting your map disc.

with the AVIC-X1 you can download your route to it's memory and then put a DVD in for the kids to watch on rear screens while your nav stays on the headunit screen.

Really? Oh thats quite cool.
Still, I'dd rather have two units - if the sat nav breaks, you still have a screen and only have to replace one bit and vice versa.
Plus, I have double din space in my dash, so a double din install is ok for me.

yeah. I was thinking about the Pioneer, but the boys here have convinced me to go with a kenwood setup. Plus I can get it at cost price which is loads cheaper than retail
The only thing I prefer on the pioneer is the opening method. the screen faces down in the unit when it's closed and lifts up towards the front. on the kenwood the screen faces up so opens towards the back if you know what I mean. you can also adjust the angle and how far the screen comes out of the unit on the kenwood.
I'll try and take some pics of it as we have one on display here.
