take dizzy cap off before you start and keep an eye on the rotor arm, if it moves put it back. then just loosen the tensioner and pull the belt off the cam sprocket, move cam round with a spanner/socket on the cam sprocket bolt and refit the belt + tension the tensioner. spin engine 360 degrees and recheck timing :)
but you'll probably need to do the dizzy timing to as per my digifant tuning guide if the cam timing is out by that much.

oh and if you don't have a tensioner tool, what i use is an allen key. fit your socket to the tensioner nut, then fit allen key to one of the tensioner holes. brace allen key to the socket, and push down to set your required tension, nip up the nut.  Once you turn engine over 360 degrees recheck your tension, you want to be able to twist the belt around 90degrees at the front length below the cam sprocket

Got it, gonna go do that in a bit. Hopefully it should go better.
So adjust it then do ignition timing again. Luckily i have atiming light so it should be sweet.
Thanks for the help

All done, loads more go low down. Havent had a chance to really give it some but just the responce and low down torque is so much better. No lag at all it just goes instantly!
Thanks for the help

Nice to see youve made a nice improvement there mate!
I wish i knew more about timing, are there any beginner novice guides on timing?
Im trying to build up my skills but as it stands with timing i have ZERO. Is it something left to a garage unless i have more experience?
cheers

Have a look through rubjonnys tuning guide in the maitenance section. I ve never timed it before so i put all the pics up on here for someone to reassure me id done it right. Once you know where all the marks are it s easy. Something i was nt sure of.

in the pics of the cam sprocket it looks like the belt is hanging over the front edge of the sprocketif it is this could be the same problem i had which is the sprocket is on the wrong way round and thus knocking your cam timing out
im sure once i put the notch with the ot marks to the back and timed it up again the belt stayed on the sprocket fully instead of riding over the edge and power was as it should have been
also does yours burble like a rally car

Think the belt was flush with the edge of the pulley. No rally burbling here, its all good.
