yet another misfire
« on: 13 February 2005, 10:55 »
Hi all,
lts a shame l've only found this site because l've got a problem, so here we go.
l've got a 97 2.0 16v golf with a intermittent (well was, its very rare it runs right now) missing fault.
l've read through all the post on here and cant find any with the same fault as mine, as you accelerate it starts to miss badly at about 2800revs if you keep your foot down it changes to more of a jumping and then clears at about 4k. lf l pull over it will tick over but badly, you can sit there and rev it up ok, its also very rough running around the 2k mark as well, you can either go days with it doing it or days when its ok.
The weather doesn't make any difference, so far l've changed the leads, cap and rotor and its been plugged in and no faults show up.driving it under the 3k mark used to bring it on but seems to happen any time now. lt starts first time but not as quick as l would of thought and the revs seem a bit slow to drop if you give it a big rev.cheers

Rich?

Look in the boot, there is a white label normally stuck on the inside of the rear panel or the floor, there is a lot of info on it and one is the engine code. Also the code may be on a sticker on the timing belt cover.
