contact the dvla they hold the current owners details I think there is a fee but I am sure the best way to trace it will be through them. I bet the current owner is not aware its on the hpi registar also try a hpi check as will show how many owners it has had since you were the last keeper. Your right it is a rare colour R plates only used to have one myself you can see it in the old sig I really should update.
Yeah I tryed the DVLA today they wont tell me much just that some one dose own it but by law cant give me the registers details
