Fozziie's Golf
« on: 16 October 2010, 15:30 »
Okay, so i spent most of yesterday moaning about the current state of my Golf. Although i'm going to keep it up for sale, im also going to start doing some work on it, once iv finished the work, and its passed it's MOT, i shall probably decide to keep it.

Anyway, my plan of attack first is to get the wheel bearing done, followed by the new suspension, and while the suspensions off, i'll fit new lowering springs to drop it by 40mm, and invest in a VR6 splitter. Im probably going to attack the welding in fortnightly sessions.

Once its passed its MOT im going to start doing the cosmetics. Im planning on getting the manufacturer GTI rear spoiler for it but the other thing im seriously considering is getting some GTI wheel arch trim, fitting it and then smoothing them into the bodywork and painting them to match, creating a wide arch effect...any opinions on this?

Need new front tyres, but rather than buy them, im going to keep an ear to the ground for a set of 15 or 16 inch rims with decent tyres, my 14inchers just arent doing it anymore lol

Rather than spending money on VR6 splitter and other non essential goodie, I'd make sure the money goes towards the general running of the car. Get the work that's needed to pass MOT done, make sure there are no fluid leaks around the engine bay, sort out any parts that may not make it for the next mot, etc etc. Only then I'd start concentrating on cosmetics.

yeah thats the plan lol, hence why i said after its passed its MOT the cosmetics are getting done. Going to get as much work done as i can before it goes in to fail its MOT next month, then i'll have a proper list of things that need fixed. Hopefully by then it'll be on new front suspension with at least half the welding done.
