thanks for the posts , 16x6.5 js steels are not that uncommon they seemed to be fitted to sharranes and tourans , but picking up a couple of second hand 17 inch alloys might be alot easier i think

Get a full set of secondhand 17"ers.
Fit winter tyres on all four wheels or you may well end up spinning.
My 4 winter wheels will go on at the end of October.

yes pretty much desided thats way to go , looking for set sec hand 17 , what winter tyres do u recommend , was thinking of continental winter contacts but there pricey , any other recommendations and cheap supplyers

My winter tyres are some cheapies from mytyre. Much better than any fancy GY F!'s when the temperature drops below 6C, nevermind actual snow.

Above site you can price winter tyres for your car. If you choose the option “Steel Wheels with Tyres†from the left, they ship your winter tyres mounted on steel rims for about £15 extra per wheel
