My GTI Passed Today
« on: 14 October 2010, 12:25 »
P Reg (97) 8v GTI AAG passed today :afro:

with afew advisorys...

1. Brake Pipes slightly corroded. (Gunna wire brush them and stick underseal on them or any other suggestions????)

2. Front and Rear Brake pads wearing thin. (Replace them very shortly)

All in all.... Very good motor with very very low emissions (Never been abused)

with only 75,000 on the clock. I'm well happy.

Had this for 2 years now and I'm still loving it

Yes. Replace them, hiding the fact they are corroding won't help. Buy a brake flaring tool, unions and some copper-nickel line and make up your own, takes a few hours, but a valuable learning experience and its not that difficult.

Agree with what has been said about the brake pipes.

Last year, mine were only advisory, but failed on this year's MOT. Only cost me around £120 to get them all replaced. Worth it too.

Congrats ... Mine flew through MOT aswell, got a leak on my exhaust that's going to be fixed tommorow as my zaust is under lifetime guarantee. But other than that, I replaced everything that needed doing ... 4 Fresh Tyres, and Rear Brake Disk/Pad, even had the front brakes cleaned so no more annoying whistling sound when braking! Love the feeling of driving a fully serviced car, it just feels 'extra' nippy and smooth! :)
