golf starting

when its been heavey rain my gti 8v takes a bit of starting when started for first time that day! but once started it starts first time every time all day!

this only happens when its rained heavey what could it be? thanks col

Could be moisture on the electrics, give the leads, dizzy and coil a spray with WD40 an see if it still happens. Have a good look at the coil to see if there are any cracks too.
I would imagine after a bit of driving, the heat from the engine would dry the electrics out, hence it being fine all day.

mine does this. its not the leads or dizzy, i strongly suspect its the coil...but i cant be arsed to check it.

easiest way to find out for sure is when its dark, with your engine running, spray a mist of water over the electrics, look for any arching or sparking.
