New Owner, help please.
« on: 23 September 2010, 20:47 »
Hi all,

Im a brand new owner. Just got my GTI 8V today. Its in a bit of a state but its my project car. Anyway, theres a few things id like to do but havnt got any idea what im doing with mk3.

Firstly, just how fast are these things meant to be? it seems to lag slightly when accelerating.

Has anybody ever fitted a mk4 tacho? is this easy to do? how would i set the mileage up if i changed it? also, how do i change the other dash lights from minging green to nice mk4 blue?

Front fog lights dont work, the wires are there ( from the fog light ) but cant find any wiring for it to plug into. Anyone got photos that can guide me?

Im not a complete noob, used to own a mk4 GTTDI PD130 tuned to 192 bhp, dropped 40mm, running on 18 RS4s, light beige metallic ( gold basicly! lol ) almost completely standard apart from ALL the extras including full leather pack. It was a dream car but not practical so got a 4x4. Decided i love dubs so bought my new, well 1995, GTI.

Any help and advice is always appreciated guys.

Easier to switch the colour of the dash bulbs than fitting a mk4 set up.

Ive seen that done but to me it just doesnt look too good. You still have the glow around the inside of the console. unless theres some cool looking dials out there i think ill try put mk4s in.

Major work, you need to replace the complete cluster.

Have a look out for Anniversary or Colour Concept dials as they look good with blue lights!
Plus they wont make your top speed any faster!
