bleeding brakes (sorry)

sorry to drag up a subject covered many many times but been trawling through search facility and haynes manual . just changed ft discs to 256 from 239 (16v - 8v) discs new pads on ft. fitted new master cyclinder 22mm, checked rear calipers for seizing both sides wind in freely ,rear brake compensator clamped, ezzi bled system after syringing old fluid first in reserviour and new added. opened o/s rear then n/s rear then n/s ft and finally o/s ft bleed nipples did all this while car was on ramps at the rear used about 1 and half litres to 2litres of fluid and the result crap brakes goin to do again on wenesday again but is there any thing im doing wrong!! thanks in advance max

How does the braking feel crap does the pedal feel spongy does the pedal travel down to quickly etc....?
Its not a common fault, but your servo, the black round flying saucer could be damaged some how, or its lossing vacum due to a leak somewhere? Plus when you used ezi bleed did you use a low pressure tyre valve and never let the resivior go bellow the min mark? if you did you still have a sh!t load of air in the system?

Maybe.

Why did you syringe the old fluid out - you should just pump it through when bleeding.

Your bleed order was right, but something sounds amiss. Were you pumping the pedal too fast? You should pump, hold, release, wait 2s, and repeat - to allow the fluid to settle.

Usually, it takes 2x rounds of the car to get a firm pedal, the 2nd run obv being far quicker.

hello ben took out old fluid as thought new fluid come through quicker didnt think had to pump it using ezzi bleed kit? will try again tomorrow ,clipper its just spongy not firm servo might be the problem as does seem to have a leak on a plastic pipe hidden in floor pan used a spare tyre set to 20psi to bleed system

Check your calipers are not upside down. The bleed nipple should be at the top. If they are upside down then there is air trapped at the top. Ben

brakes sorted niceand firm must have been air trapped in system had a friend come and pump brake and bleed system manually seems to have done the trick :smiley:thanks all for the imput
