Engine needs work soon what shall i do?

I know there is still a fair few miles left in the engine but im wondering what i can do either modify it or rebuild as a standard?
its a 16v kr engine i had read you can bore the bottem end to 2.1 big valve head etc is this a good idea and what sort of bhp would a heavy modded engine be on throttle bodies/carbs and injection
also some ppl to undertake the work to a v high standard would be nice to have ideas of good companys out there
