Matrix bypass valve

Can anyone give me some info on the matrix bypass valve I,ve just had a new matrix put in do I still need the bypass vale inline or was that only for the original matrix,s and if I do need it fixed in can it go on either of the pipes sticking into the bay.

If you've used a quality matrix no need for the bypass valves, get rid tidily by using mk3 hoses.
