Fault Codes 00518/00519
« on: 14 August 2010, 16:26 »
Hey guys,

After spending many hours trying to sort out my idle issues, i decided to check again for fault codes - (bought a £7 reader off ebay!!)

i got these as the faults which i want to check the likely causes! here goes:-

1.  00518 - i believe this is the throttle position sensor?? (only gave the code and no other info on this) Can someone please point me in the direction of common faults and best fixes for this. Also can i check where this is - is it the sensor that is on the side on the throttle body?

2.  00519 - intake manifold pressure sensor (g71) 03-10 no signal - intermittent

im guessing this is the vacuum hose which goes to the ecu from the back of the inlet manifold? changed this before but i suppose it could go again?

I believe they recommend the 3mm id silicone and it is meant to be 1m in length? is this correct?

I have in my possession some 2.8mm id silicone which is 990cm - would this work do you think?? i would get out and try it but its raining  if anyone knows an answer i will be greatful as it will stop me getting wet!!!

cheers!!!!!!

The length of the silicon hose isn't important on the abf engine. If the 2.8mm id hose fits over the connectors then it should be fine.

Common faults for the TPS is brittle or broken wiring, also make sure the throttle is fully opening and fully closing.

00518 Throttle Position Sensor - Signal Out of Range (G69) Also check for loose ECM power relay

thats the one on the throttle body with 3 wires to it.

follow the wiring from the tps behind the inlet manifold right round to the side of the engine. chances are its been baked by manifold heat and is all knackered
