ECU Temp Sensor leak
« on: 14 August 2010, 14:17 »
If you click on the link below to BoneyBradley's thread. In the picture where the ECU Temp Sensor is is where my water is seeping out. It was like this when I bought the car recently. I went to fetch a part of a car that's breaking near me. I changed the plastic part that's bolted to the block and has the three water pipes connected to it. The gasket looked pretty new as well so I stuck with that. Today I went to go out and the water light is flashing and the bottle is way down. So topped it up and all is fine. Then noticed the water is leaking from this part at the bottom and through the bolt at the top. From memory when I removed the old one there was no sensor part inside. Would this cause the water to escape or should the gasket be doing this. I will obviously be getting the sensor from Euro Car Parts as they startfrom a tenner but I am guessing the gasket will be VW only.

was the plastic flange a new one? if not, buy a new one. also there is a seal vor the sensor and the blank if fitted, these can be had from gsf and i assume ecp as well. sensors though id only buy genuine vw, but its unlikely the sensor is the casue of the leak. more likely to be a flange or seal problem
