Hey guys,

Booked into my local garage at 6.00 tonight but would be great to have an idea of whats wrong before I get there...
Would use the search function but im at work till 5.30, all help will be highly appreciated!

Literally just got my car all sorted and a new issue developed this morning.

There is a repetitive knocking noise, maybe two times every second.

- It does not happen when in neutral.
- It does not happen when revving.
- Its not there when cruising slowly or at speed.
- Or when braking etc.

It only starts when the car is in gear and I accelerate.

- Not audible in 1st gear. But gets louder the higher the gear. (even if the speed stays the same.)
- So if I do 30mph in 3rd its quite audible, but 30mph in 5th and its pretty heavy.
- As far as I can tell it is coming from the front end, all heat shields seem to be fine also. Oil/Water level perfect.

Despite the knocking the cars performance is not affected at all and I cannot feel any lurching etc.
The gearbox has been replaced in the last 2 years, and I believe there was an engine rebuild 3 or so years ago. Bushes have been replaced in the last year.

If you reckon you know what it is, a rough estimate of labour price would be great... engine mount?

Sorry to be blunt, only a few minutes left of my lunch break.
Wont be able to check back here until 5.30

Thanks in advance!

Oscar

id say cv joint on one of the drive shafts, as you seem to have done everything else. drive with steering on full lock and it should be more noticeable, not sure on cost but about an hours labour for a competant mechanic
