Front wings

Hey all

I dont have my golf with me atm as i store it at my gf's cuz i live on a busy street. Anyway last night i found the my front arches were rusty and the bit that holds the front splitter at the corner has completely gone lol. What i wanted to know is, is this part of the front wing? I couldnt really see last night as it was dark. if so would it be easier to just buy new wings and get them sprayed or to get a new bit welded and all the rust repaired?

New wing would be simpler that fannying about trying to weld bits on. They're only about 25.00 and plus whatever to get them painted. Centre lower bit isn't too expensive either if that's away too.

Replace with a second hand genuine part. Hold out for one in your own colour to save yourself the cost and pain of spraying and colour matching.

It's not worth repairing if it's as bad as you described - you should be able to pick up a decent 2nd hand wing for about £20-£30.

I'm guessing yours is a small bumper car, as on the big bumpers the splitter is attached to the bumper itself and slots into the plastic wheel arch.

If it is a small bumper car, then check the front valence is okay.

Yh it is a small bumper gti.Is the front valence being the bit that my splitter fits onto? Are these easy to get hold off? Are there any diffrences in the wings between models ages or are all the wings the same?

All wings are the same. None gti front valance will do too. depends on colour re getting a decent match. Me I'd just get new ones but realise that's not always feasible. Hadrian autopanels do some decent pattern parts for not too much money.
