Help!
« on: 01 August 2010, 16:37 »
As you probably know I'm having a mare with my MK3.

VAGCOM threw a fault code up for the ignition sensor/module? Now this is whats happened so far.

- Car stalled at 30. Restarted and stalled again 1 min later.

- Car eventually started after 30 mins and stalled 30 secs later.

- Car started 30 mins later but revs went mental bouncing from 0-4000 on it's own and then the car cut out.

- AA came out and broke my rotor arm (not happy) which i replaced. Then tested coil pack, which was good.

- Then had to get 3 of my mates to push my car down a main road through heavy traffic as the AA wouldn't tow it.

- There is now no spark coming from the coil what so ever, or on any of the plugs.

- The car turns over on the ignition but will not fire what so ever.

Now - the cambelt was recently changed, but i've felt it and it feels like it's tensioned properly.

Secondly - I took my car to a car wash the other day and the bonet catch was not properly down.. (oops.) I checked inside and right where the the ECU temp sender is there was water. I let this dry and the car happily continued on it's jorney for another couple of hours.

My question basically is, could a faulty ignition module cause the engine to turn over on the ignition but not spark from the coil.

Please help

Think I would be inclined to try a different coil pack Mate as they are temperamental in wet conditions. Mine played up in the damp until I changed it. Does one of your Mates have a Golf so you could borrow a coil pack ??  If you were closer to me I have one in the shed but no good to you there.....sorry

agreed, crank sensor would be top of my list. also check the ecu relay, if faulty it will not send enough power to ecu and make it do weird stuff

Ordered a crank sensor. Picking it up tomorow. Relays 30 and 167 already changed.
