Central Locking Problems
« on: 29 July 2010, 22:41 »
Before I start I'll just say that I have searched through the forums and none of the problems that I've seen are the same as mine.

When I bought my golf two days ago the central locking just about worked, it made a whinining noise for about a minute after locking the drivers door and eventually all of the doors locked. Then the next day the passenger side door stopped locking, then today the whole system has stopped working.

I have checked fuse 21, it was intact, I still replaced it with another fuse and after replacing all locks apart from the passenger unlock when I turn the key in the drivers side , still with the whining 60 seconds after the door is locked. But when I go to unlock the drivers door later the central locking doesnt work. Again after removing the fuse and replacing with the same fuse it works again apart from the passenger side.

Also the passenger door barrel  comes out when I put the key in it.

Any ideas to whats going on?

Thanks in advance.

Try the central locking pump Mate....pretty common problem really. It's located in the boot near the drivers side rear light. As for the lock again it's a pretty common problem Mate.

Yea its in a black hard foam cover.

Its a pneumatic system so you also need to check the pipes are connected, especially to the door that isnt working. If that is leaking air then it will affect the performance of the whole system.
