windscreen washers

cant get windscreen washers working on mk 2 8 valver , have checked fuse its fine and checked pump direct on battery abd for good measure tried a new one , have 12 voltb there when put ba multimeter in the conectors and opperate the stalk . also if i take the connectors off the pump and pull the stalk the wipers come on as you would expect when cleaning the screen but when i plug thge pump in they dont come on weird .... please help as the dead flies are starting to build up

sounds like you need another stalk, could try cleaning the contacts inside it if you can

yes have fluid , pump will not even run anyway unlkess i conn ect directly up to the battery ill try the stalk thing although i am getting 12 volt when stalk pulled in .

ive seen em fail but still supply 12v to pump, just not enough power to make it work. also old knackered pumps can end up drawing too much power so the stalks cant supply, even tho they work from battery. you've ruled out pump tho as you say you fitted a new one
