mk2 8v digi miss be having !!!!

morning all , had the golf for 3 years now and love it ! recently serviced it with new plugs , leads rotor arm and cap and its been sweet ..... however on 2 occassions now cruising on motorway on part throttle felt like it was gonna run out of fuel!! however put foot down and it cleared!! co is 1.8% as tested last week so its not lean!! also its always done this , when u turn it off after driving for 15mins and re start it idles at 1800 for a while before settling down , could these 2 be related?? also what symptoms do a faulty lift pump give?

idle issue could be down to the idle switch, check it clicks when the throttle is closed and the throttle hits the stop firmly. also check the wiring to the tb it likes to snap rounds the back of the inlet.

motorway issue might be the lift pump starting to fail, pull the 2 pin plug on the main pump under the car and turen the key 1 click, should hear the in-tank pump prime
