Loss of power and ESP light!? 130 PD

Coming back from france through Le Mans on Sunday - all of a sudden loss of power. 

Car still revved, but lost speed @ 80mph, feeled a bit like limp mode. Pulled over, turned off and back on and was fine. Did it twice in the 600mile journey home. Only thing was that the ESP light came on and off a few times during the 1800 mile week. Related?

Anybody had this problem before? Car seems fine now - pulls strong etc...

Weird one, seems like one of those situations when it could be all sorts and sometimes never happens again.
Have you had the car scanned?

Mine came on but wouldn't start recently but nothing showed up on vagcom and has never happened again. Strange bloody cars.

Not had it scanned yet, no but will do if it happens again. Reading on here suggests it could be maf or boost leak but I think its not consistent enough to be boost leak so very likely maf.

Didn't do it for the last 300 odd miles home so you could be right, might never happen again

i had exact same prob with juddering as if it was coughing b4 it went into limp mode.

bought scanner of ebay cost around 20 quid inc delivery

fualts were with the egr which i put an allard delte pipe think it was around 75 quid and cylinder 2 miss fire electronical which i ended up getiing the loom for it replaced by vw coast 130 but best thing i ever did was buy the faut reader as used it since.
