Hey guys, i had a look at the dash speakers earlier, and noticed they are some stupid non normal fitting.
what do you lot do for replacing them?
any links or pics will be appreciated

I have just ordered some pioneer custom fit speakers from car audio direct

I will let you know how good they are when I get them.

You actually gave me an idea to upgrade my audio in the car
I was thinking about getting some speakers few months ago, but kind of forgot...
Well, Pioneer's got good stuff, as well as Sony.

hey man, i noticed this when i replaced mine ..... if ya can get a speaker to fit the dash (i just built a 4" blanking plate and put a tweeter in the middle) then all u gotta do is
cut the vw fitting off
strip the wire back
and attach some of these

(go to halfords, they are dirt cheap)
these will then directly plug into the back of most aftermarket speakers

I got vibe components in mine. Just made some wrap around brackets to hold the tweeters in the space under the dash grill. Jobs a good un

dont know if you guys have had a look at the edge range??? awesome and there fitments are not far off what oyu need, just got to extend the brackets slightly, easy job plus the power output is amazing and its crystal sound

i was going through the same thing and pretty much everyone i knew and asked said to use pioneer cause they do some direct replacements but another option is to replace all speakers and head unit and rewire it all, slightly more tricky but can do get some tricked out audio system.

I used JBL202's - they are 2.5 inch mid/tweets. No alterations needed just dropped em in and screwed them down.
