sorry dont mean to hijack but im in a similar situation to you... currently got kinda navy blue door cards

how hard is it to fit electric windows with the door cards aswell? is the wiring all there so its as simple as plugging it all in?

It's quite a lot of work, especially if you don't know what you're doing.

You need:

1. Electric regulators with motors
2. Wiring
3. Switches
4. Door cards

I was going to do it for myself, but gave up on wiring, lol :D

im fine with mechanical stuff, not so much with electrical stuff but i'll manage :p
i might make a thread of my own as id like to know about central locking also

i wouldnt say fitting electrical windows was difficult at all, one of the more easier jobs actually - although a basic knowledge of electrics will help! most of it is plug and play, with possibly two wires that need wiring depending on your model and your connections.

you should already have central locking? do you mean remote central locking?

Also i have the 5door GTI doorcards, i also have all the door wiring looms for electric windows if you are intrested plus electric mirrors (that are part of the electric window loom)

nope it doesnt have central locking, its a 92 1.4 CL though, not a GTI or anything
do any Mk3s come with remote central locking? that would be nice to have

i'll get my MOT out the way first then i will focus on making it look pretty

haha!

She's bare bones engine. Has the connections off the engine still which is good and still running on points (she's 1970's tech)

To be fair I don't think it's gonna be too difficile - just need to plug in reg rec, runwires from the battery to the coils and piggy back them to something and and oh my days confusion has set in.

But just comedown the workshop for a chill and a cuppa tea some time man. You can see where the aircooled come to die  :lipsrsealed: Currently in process of resto - 2 splittys, 1 bay, 1 1302, marcuses red 1300, pontiac firebird, rover v8 poprod, 1 volksrod, 1 fujurking greet 60's lorry thing, token purple mini etc.

She's a fun time place
