Hi again people,

My 16v has a whirring noise when going along at speed, could it be bearing or worse, gearbox! having trouble engaging some gears but when it does go in its smooth as hell. im pretty sure its the linkage as it had a new clutch recently in the service history!

Dip the clutch and see if it still makes the noise. If it stops could be the gearbox.

Or try lightly applying the brakes - if the noise stops this could be a wheel bearing. Or test the wheel bearings the normal way by jacking the wheel up and seeing if theres any play top to bottomm and side to side.
