PLEASE HELP - Strange Electrical Fault

Hi guys,

Its been a while since i've had to write on here but this one should make up for all the lost time.

My Golf seems to of taken on the persona of 'Bumblebee' which would be great if it sounded like a V8 and transformed but unfortunately its just the mood swing bit!

Problem:
At present, remote locking does not work along with all electric windows and electric mirrors. (Think everything else is ok.) The car will lock all doors with the key being used in the lock and the windows will function if you use the key in the lock too (But not via the normal controls on the door panel.). About a week ago all these problems were intermittent but now they are dead.

In addition to the above, at complete random intervals, sometimes my alarm will go off when driving and the indicators will signal on their own.

Fuses 6 and 14 have not blown so I fear I have a short somewhere which could be expensive. Do any of you guru's have any ideas on this? The only incidents that have happened with the car in recent times is a bottle of vodka smashed in the boot (After some W**ker pulled out in front of me  ) and my front drivers side headlamp washer leaked. Are either of those incidents likely to of got at my alarm system? I don't know where it is housed?

Any ideas will be much appreciated

Have you been yousing you rear wash and wipe quite a bit recanltly?
Some of the simptomes you have said i have read before on here, where the water from the washer pipe has split and coverd the rear boot lock with water, corsing it to short out and alarm to come on. might also be conected to windows playing up.

Yeah I have read the rear washer jet problems and I do use mine intensively but only when it is filthy so could be that, but I thought it strange for it to have affected the windows and mirrors too?

Im not to shore about the mirror not working but the windows i would think would have some kind of connetion with the alarm/locking. If you where able to have some one plug Vag-com into you car that would give you a better understanding to what the problem might be. Where abouts are you located mate as a fello Forum member might be able to do that for you and pin point the proble quicker .

Good call prime.  Get the boot trim off and that lock unit looked at for signs of water damage.

A scan for fault codes might bring something up too.

Other thing could be the central convenience module (CCM) as that controls all those systems.  This is under the dash in driver's footwell.  Expensive to buy / easy to replace.

We talking a couple of hundred? Just can't think why it would of gone so randomly if it isn't anything to do with the rear wiper scenario?
