for the record, 1 litre every 1000km is acceptable use according to VW.

nice 1 every one im guna put a flush through it and put 10w40 in it then and see if that helps car runs perfect no smoke no sign of wear just a bit thursty for oil like us in the pub lol

don't use a flush, 1.8t engines don't like it. The only time i'd ever recommend a flush is as a last resort if there is an oil pressure problem due to blockage.

Same stuff VW recommend, but cheaper.  I whack some new in every 12 months, jobs a good on'!  Mine uses so little oil that when I come to change it a year later it's still on the full line! :afro:

that anit cheaper than vw once you put vat and postage onto it

I run Quantum fully synth 5w/40. 5L bottle, took nearly 4.5l when changed, done about 4000 miles and only just finished using the remainding half a litre for top ups so to me thats not bad after my last car drank a litre a month easily lol
