Idle control valve for mk2 golf gti
« on: 20 April 2010, 08:18 »
Please help me. I have a 1992 golf gti 8 valve. Tickover is uneven to such an extent that it is dangerous to drive. My mechanic has cleaned the idle valve but it didn't fix it, so I'm looking for a new one. I've tried Volkswagen and big boys toys, they both want £293 plus vat. Do you know where I can get one cheaper, or should I pay for the real thing?

have you checked it out as per the digifant tunup guide in the mk2 maintenance + info section? make sure your idle switch clicks and the wiring to the throttle body is ok as well.

There is a few on ebay for £55 ish.

I suspect that it could be more than just the ISCV though. Might be worth trying a known working one before purchasing a new valve.
