quick spacers q's

I've lowered my car recently to the point where the wheels are tucked in nicely below the arches but I am finding scrapping on the insides of my arches.  I am running 17x7 wheels on 205/40/17 tires with offset 38. Obviously the cure would be spacers. But what thickness would be most suitable? My mate have given me 4x5mm spacers but would the original bolts be long enough 2 support the loads? Any advice would be appreciated!

5mm should be enough you should get longer wheel bolts TBH

If they are rubbing the arch then all you will do by running spacers is make it worse.

Well I'm rubbing the insides of the arches ie when I'm turning the steering wheel so I'm guessing I don't have enough inner clearance so spacers are needed?

Yes but you may find they do then rub the arch.

In that case I will rise my suspension to compensate as they're  coilovers

with that offset and tyres you should have no problem with the arches. try the 5mm spacers first

I run 215/45 with my 17s, ET38 and before I put the spacers on the front I had no rubbing at all, can't see why yours would be rubbing?

dunno why, maybe cause I done exactly what others told me 2 stay away from...JOM coil-overs  I've looked at the top mounts and they don't seem to be sitting right-the right hand side seems to be higher than left and left side sits further in towards the engine slightly.  Also, there's clattering and knocking noises from the RHS.
