The Audi dealer has an A3 S-Line 170 S-tronic waiting on the boat and will be mine in 2 weeks.

that says it all...    'supply and demand mate'.  no one wants an a3 especially with a new version out asap.  that dealer couldnt wait to sell it to you.  that a3 has been out a while now...  aint there any stock gti's?  i got mine in 2 wks no fuss.  dsg aint no biggy.

A3 is a seven year old model and looks it. The Sportback version is a complete travisty. They looked old 4-5 years ago when compared to the Mk 5 Golf.
Generally, Audi styling, apart from the R8, S5 and the TT, sucks. And that is why they have those enormous and ugly gaping mouths! Fit for purpose, I say!

I like the look of the 5 door more as it looks more grown-up and is much more practical. But that's my opinion.
The 'MASSIVE' doors on the 3 door would probably tend to scrape the pavement if you open them too wide.I have had a mixture of 3 and 5 door hatches. I must admit I prefer a 5 door overall for myself.
