Hi all, well since ive just brought myself a MK3 Golf (only a gti replica ) I thourght id sign up to this site. I Used to have an Astra MK4 but it was involved in a small meeting with a lorry :(. I was part of Astraownersclub (AOC) So i hope you guys are just as friendly and helpful as im sure il be encountering problems along the way lol. Its an N reg SE 1.4 (as im only 17) buit by the looks of it has had a few mods done both internally and externally. Its done a hell of a load of miles 136000!!!! but iom told these things are built like tanks!
Seemed okay on the 50 mile motorway journey home.
Problems ive noticed so far:
- Bite on the clutch is really high on the pedal (have to bring the clutch right up) so i imagine il be putting a new clutch on????
- Idles quite low and did cut out when stopped, hoping this is just a filthy throttle body.
- The pads are LOW and i think the disc run out is abit off.

But overall im impressed with it, although im used to working on slightly newer cars (going to have to get used to all these mechanical linkages!) But im hoping to clean her up nice. Originally it was only meant to tide me over until i receive my insurance payout, but i think i might have a go at getting her back to tip top condition.

Are there any things i should look  out for? Any little tips?? what are the common mods??

cheers all,    rhys
