Fasttrack vw service
« on: 23 November 2004, 15:37 »
I just phoned my local dealer to book a service for the VR6 who told me about the new vw fasttrack service for cars over 3 years old.   Basically it's a vw approved service, following the same procedure as the dealership using vw parts but cheaper.  Sort of a no frills option.

I'm not totally convinced though, for a 20k mile service vw charge 180 pounds, the fast track service is 145 pounds, so a huge saving of 35 quid, but there's no courtesy car or lift to work, no valet, no cup of coffee, no nice woman to explain all the work that was done, no 5 minutes poking around in the new mk5 in the showroom while you wait for someone to bring the car to the front door, and also, will vw let there best technicians work in the old car fasttrack bit or the dealer workshop?  hhmmmm

I'm booked in at the dealership next week ::)

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

i wouldnt let any vag technician work on my car ::) mine goes to an independent specialist who knows 16v's inside out. instead of some pretend know it all trying to explain to you something he's read from a service manual

I'm quite happy to let it go to the Dealer it's going to, a mate used to work there and he knows most of the technitians there so he'll be on the phone to one of them who will take the job.  The guy who will be servicing it has been at vw since about 1990 so i guess he qualifies as a specialist in mk3 golfs  :D

I agree though, if i didn't know who would be doing the work i'd be less keen to use the dealer.
