Over reving
« on: 16 November 2004, 19:20 »
Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has any ideas how to sort some over reving out, its racing at about 1500-1600revs on startup, once its warmed up a bit it drops to about 1000 with the clutch down but its well annoying.

Drove it to nottingham from chester the other day n some valve decided to pop open, got that tightened on the way and the bloke sorted my over reving out, tho by the time i'd got to Notts the revs were up again when stationary.

Any ideas why it could be doing this? One thing im slightly worried about is when the mechanic lowered the revs i could hear the cam belt knocking a bit, something id better get checked soon but would that be related? Im not that clued up on the mechanics yet so any advice would be good.

Cheers

mine was ticking over too high so i took it to a bosh injection specialist it cost ?50, but it runs so much better now.

probably just needs a tune. all carb engines need tuning now and then.

when i bought mine it was revving at 2000-2500 revs constantly at idle.

50 quid should see it fixed properly....
