I'm pretty sure the answer to that one is a big no.

I'm fairly sure they mount up but I recall rubjonny saiying something about bell housings.
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

no no and no....you want an 084/085 type box (polo is common)
the big issue is the way the clutch/flywheel works on the 020 8v box where the1.4 has a normal clutch bolted directly to the flywheel.....where as the 020 doesn't/isn't as the flywheel bolts over the clutch

I've tried to explain it easy but failed!

What he means is the 8v gti has the reverse type clutch, the pressure plate is bolted to engine, the flywheel is then bolted to it, with the friction disc sitting in between. The clutch is then operated by a pushrod through the middle.
The smaller engined cars as well as the 16v/vr6 have the standard type clutch.
