temperature sensor question

i cant get my head round why it would need a pre heater? surely within a minute it will be hot anyway ?

not necessarily its designed afaik to help heat to get the lambda up to its ideal operating temp when cold to allow it to operate at peak efficiency for emissions purposes

so in theory once its hot it should still function? dont know why im moanin cos either way its got to be replaced lol
