I am building a MK2 track car & need some advise with suspension & Geometry setup.
It will be a dedicated track car but will have an MOT, i want to get the best handling i can on track.

1. I am going to buy some Gaz coilovers from Rally design next week but what spring rates do people recommend bearing in mind the ones they sell with the kits are probably for road/track, my car will be track only so don't need any comfort.
2. I have a complete set of poly bushes already
3. I have a rollcage already which should stiffen things up a bit
4. Anyone recommend a descent front strut brace ?
5. I have read about underbody strut brace, do i need one & where can i buy one ?
6. What top mounts do i need, G60 or will it be better to get the fully adjustable type to adj camber, eccentric or concentric ?
7. I will be using 195/50/15 R888 on Team dynamics pro race 3 wheels
8. I will need to get the geo setup after its complete, corner weighting ?
All i want to do is get the car handling the very best i can on track with simple upgrades.

Simon.

you are best off buying them direct from gaz, and ask their advice on spring rates. You will need to know corner weights or at least front and rear axle weights though, plus what tyre you will be using the most.

i doubt theres much difference in front strut brace's. The curved 16v ones for example wont be as good as the straight ones though

omp do a 4 point lower brace that looks good, it goes across the front wishbone bolts and to the front subframe. i dont have 1st hand experience with one though, but will be getting one sometime!

If you go for rubber top mounts then the mk3 vr6 setup is the best, but your getting some decent quaity coilovers so go for the ally top mounts. you will be surprised how good the ride comfort is!

if you can get it corner weighted, do it!

Where abouts in the country are you Simon, I do that kind of work for most of the front runners in the Mk2 Golf GTI Championship so would be able to help you out.

Hi Stu,

I have indeed, we won the Stock Hatch Championship in 1998 and Runner-up in 1999 in a Peugeot 205.
