battery terminals

Hi
I have a 1990 8v that the battery terninals have been changed resulting in having to buy a ford battery for it!
I want to replace the positive and negative conections from the alternator and the starter with the correct ones!!


Does the Mk2's and Mk3's have the same connections and cable lengths???
as the Mk3's will be in better condition!

one more question does the possitive connection from the alternator go direct to the battery? as mine goes to a small connection that diverts back along the wiring loom from the + connection!!!

think its been mucked about with by its last owners!!

mk3 +ve is a direct fit, -ve the bit that runs to the stud on the battery tray wont reach. can either make something up to bridge the gap or get a -ve lead off a later Passat, the one with a front grille. certain models of these have a -ve cable thats a direct fit.

I got a set of leads with the correct connections from a MK2 today in not bad condition so will fit them at the weekend.
hope that does the job, you should see some of the things the previous owner has done!!!! I want/need to get it all back to the way it should be!
