Ok, ive took the dizzy out to line it up with the rota arm, took the plastic cover off the timing belt etc turned the crank around until timing marks lined up. Fit dizzy back in hole put it all back together and when i started the car, it turned over tried to start then there was a noise and smoke coming from the engine,
On inspection the smoke was coming from a copper wire or wot ever it is, its the small bit that send the spark i think between the solenoid and the starter motor to start the engine. When i turned the ignition on as if trying to start the engine there was a spark coming from this copper wire and then the smoke.
I took the starter off and the wire looked corroded and it was only half attached. I took the outer casing off the starter and the plastic inside was all cracked. Could it have been the turning of the crank to get the time rite have turned something out of line that drives the start motor or do you think it could have just been one of them things that it shorted out when i went to start it after refitting the dizzy because it was corroded.
If i fit another starter will it be ok and start or will it smash this one too. HELP.......
