Still having tickover 16V WHEN COLD

Posted a note a few months ago regarding a tick over problem on a 1996 16V, as kindly suggested I’ve replaced damaged breather hoses, checked and replaced the small bore pipes, changed the air filter gave the car a general service. Removed and cleaned the TB, the butterfly valve was quite dirty on the manifold side, But still having the same problems. The small bore pipe that comes from the manifold to the ECU when connected the car runs but wont tick over if I disconnect the hose the car runs but ticks over.
Oh forgot to mention it will only tick over when it get to temperature 90C on the gauge, getting quite annoyed  with it all

Anybody got any ideas

Sorry Mate whats the isv? and where would i find it?

Really strange when it up to temp its fine, (when the vac pipe is disconnected), runs like a dream very responsive, pulls in all gears.

Getting a lot of, "i told you so" and "spending good money after bad" blah, blah, blah

ISV= Idle Stabilization Valve and its located under the plastic tray that holds the leads.

Im abit confused,does it have problems when idling or is it on pick up/while accelerating..?

Alright Daz,
the car wont tick over at all, even when it warm, however if i disconnect the vac pipe on the manifold that goes to the ECU it will tick over but only when its a 90C.
Absolute pain in the a**e, i have to hang around for 10mins untill its warm, in the morning i use a piece of wood chocked between the seat and the peddle until it warm.

i#ve taken the car to the main stealers to this afternoon to see if they can resolve or at least point me in the right direction if its a the ECU problem then its gone

Spark plug lead holder, remove that plastic tray that holds the leads in place and under this you will find the isv, it looks like a clipper lighter but abit bigger and it attaches to the breather pipe that runs to the airbox.

Have you had the car checked to see if there is any fault codes..?

the VW dealer have up it down to the map sensor which is part of the ECU, they'll replace it a cost of £800, cars a gona at that price, i'll ask the forum if anyone's got a spare or knows where to get  a cheap one.
