It's slowly coming back and I'm flummoxed.
One of my rear wheel bearings needed replacing for some time, towards the end, the brakes started a low pitched squeal when almost at a stop but only after lots of brake use. (Urban driving around London)
I finally replaced the bearings on both sides and gave the drums a good inspection and clean out. All noise problems went away completely. (there was a lot of grit in the bearing grease, someone must have done it carelessly by the roadside.
2 weeks later, that low pitch noise is starting again... it's very minor this time round. With careful clutch/brake control last time I could keep the note going on for as much road as I had. Now it's a brief whine when coming to stop. Again only when the brakes are warm.
Any ideas where I should look now?
From my biking days, I know that if the shoes hit the drums toe-first, they can make a nasty noise, but I'm sure that would happen when braking at high speed too, not just at around the 2mph mark. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still relatively new to cars.
