I think he really has skill to pull this off and i am going to follow it nicely now to see what,i could possibly do differently on my conversion, i intend to use a audi s3 running gear ,passat rear diff and modded rear axle , the 1.8 t will have a shallow sump to virtually eliminate any sump scraping problems and offcourse its light too  :wink:
But its all a distant dream at the moment cause im still struggling to iron out problems on my other project  :undecided:

I will try to persuade ( poach ;)) him over here, he will probably be interested in running parallel threads anyway, one over here and one over there.

he is a nice kid, no-one around here even knows it is in the car, it is not like he drives it flat out everywhere or goes around telling everyone about it.

He has awesome fabrication skills but theres more to a conversion like that than just making it fit. Not only will it be too front heavy but using the mk1 subframe will make it handle pretty poorly. Also the angle of the engine installation is important to the balance of the car and how the power will be put down. It'll get murdered on corners at a track and possibly will be quite unstable. Best option would have been mk2 subframe as a wide track making good handling a possibility. 


I'll keep an eye on it looks like it'll be wild when done, i just hope he doesn't hit a wall or regret not going for a changed subframe route.

He will not hit a wall, he is a really sensible driver pretty much all the time. without a strengthened drivetrain on his mk2 he has to be really.

If it is not right I am sure he will rip it all out and start again without too much hesitation :).
