cuts out when cold start

hi there people
i have maybe common problem.  just bought 1996 8v gti and it runs pretty good so far but when starting from cold cuts out until about 5 minutes after starting.  it's annoying!! any cheap suggestions? ta in advance for all help :wink: :smiley:

Temp sensor and vacuum hoses seem to be pretty common mate, had the same problems with my mk2 8valve for aaaages.
