Silverline machine polishers

Looking for some more advice please guys 

Been looking at these on the bay...

Are they any good for someone who wants to just do his car and the missus's every once in a while??

I've got one of these, bought it about 5 years ago.

Good machine, very well made and powerful.

As it's a rotatry you'll need to be very careful with it as it will burn through your paint if used incorrectly, unlike a dual action polisher.

Worth buying an old panel to practice on before you attack your own pride and joy though. When I got mine I bought an old Audi 80 with very faded (alpine white) paint and it brought it up like new.

as said above Andy!! be very carefull if you have no experience with these machines, also the pad and compound combo is a very important factor aswell. i wouldnt also use your other halfs car for practise or she will be damaging you if it all goes pete tong

No probs there Mate, just a joke about using the missus's car..............I value me testicles too much 

Do you think I would be better saving a bit more and going for a DA polisher?? I am a complete novice at machine polishing and have been reading through instruction threads and they do seem very aggressive  more so if you don't know what you're doing  :embarassed:.

yep thats the best idea and the most sensible chap a DA is perfect for the beginner, it can take longer for the same result but you wont risk doing any damage trying to get there if that makes any sense. pm waxamomo and he'll sort you a good deal out.

I got some good advice a while back, get yourself a panel from a scrappy and practice till your hearts content on it

Think my mind is made up now........save the pennies and invest in a DA polisher 

The panel practice will also be done to avoid any major Feck ups
