Alloys for a Golf - 15" Vs 17"

Hi Guys

Found these on ebay thought they might be of interest to some.

So what is it to be... 17" the big rim look, or 15" small rim look... Which is better for road performance???

15's on a MK2 don't look small, they look normal. I think you'll find that the general concensus is that 15's give better handling and acceleration, while 17's will give more out-right grip

yeah i'd agree, most people who like to drive their car properly would go for 15"s 17's don't handle as well, plus those fox alloys suck!

if you go 17's then you need to have your arches rolled

also, acceleration will be slower also, due to the extra weight & turnin force required to turn a 17 rather than a 15

also, 17's might give extra grip in the dry but in the wet it is the reverse it gives less grip than a 15


15's are what u want, anything else just doesnt look right. even the 16's i had on just didnt look right!!

WEll for ya info.. these alloys are mine.. were fitted to a 1986 Mk2.. Was lowered 40mm and i didnt need to mod the arches. I didnt notice any difference in accelleration, only the fact u didnt get any wheelspin with the 17's rather than the 15" which did tend to spin.. Handling... It was as nimble on the round town quick stufff, sharp turns etc, but on the open road, you could go so fast round the corners and it just stuck to the road... have to save the above comment about the wet id have to agree with, loads of the front end just sliding out. SCAREY he he makes it a little exciting.

i think the 15" and the 17" rims both have there ad's and dis's, i would put it all down to personal preference, do u like the small or large rim look... Personally i like the large rim look!

the how it looks is down to the person, but 15's have more advantages when driving
