Want her to shine!
« on: 01 February 2010, 14:28 »
To be honest, never before have i washed my car any other way than with a car garage jet wash  :lipsrsealed:

Read about it on here and then decided, was time to change my ways, after having my first dark car and noticing alot of swirls.

I have bought Dodo-born to be mild, some blue car polish, AG SRP, (and wash mitt, foam applicators, microfibre cloths) and now deciding on wax.

Should i buy carnuaba wax, like dodo purple haze, have heard many a good story about this or should i try one of the liquid waxes?

Have heard that the liquid ones last longer, but i suppose the carnuaba ones produce a higher gloss?

Should i be putting something like lime prime lite somewhere in between?

Please explain, all very new to this and want to try and get this right before wasting hours!

lime prime lite is basically a glaze with no abrasive and will enhance your paints shine and deepen the colours appearence.
purple haze is a very good wax  im half way through a pot and will be getting another for definate, i use it on alot of customers cars and it never disapoints

the AG srp will only fill the swirls in and hide them it doesnt remove them, you will need to get them removed by a pro detailer or learn to do it yourself

the only liquid wax i will recomend you is collinite 845 insulator wax!! its the beezneez and imho the best liquid wax on the market at this present time.

hard wax's are harder to apply and remove but give outstanding results.

also look into sealants which are man made but give high durabilty and protect your car from uv sunlight, contaminants, salt etc etc.

look in the stickys at the top of this forum, they'll give you an idea of all the different factors of detailing.

Yeah came across this section and have spent hours reading through all the pages, but didnt think i quite found what i was looking for  maybe im just thick

So if i was to just hide the swirls then put the protective layer over the top, AG SRP would be fine?

Also i take it the lime prime lite goes after the AG SRP and before the wax?

So basically the harder wax (non-liquid) takes alot more work but yeilds a better result? Is there any advantages of the liquid wax or is it just for people with weaker elbows?

Its also worth a read around www.detailingworld.co.uk
There are several "how to" guides over there, although sometimes too many opinions can get confusing

The collonite wax mentioned is excellent stuff & its hard wearing during the winter, but the dodo range is great too (what I've tried anyhow, p haze & supernatural). If you're doing your car, try & pick a dry & mild day, too much cold n damp makes everything that bit harder.

lime prime lite is a paint cleanser so apply that once youve done your washing and claying, you dont have to use the srp but if you do then apply this after lpl, then your wax is the final layer, send chris at waxamomo a pm and he'll sort you with a bottle collinite 845 which is around the 15 squid mk and that will last you ages as this stuff is extremelly economical. if you want more gloss get some purple haze and layer this on top of the collinite, just to clarify my last point:845 apply let it cure for 10/15 mins then buff off then apply ph let it cure and buff off and stand back and think to yourself dam that looks good:)
