Forge recir DUMP VALVE questions?? Help plz guru's
« on: 15 October 2004, 20:59 »
I have a 1999,  T reg Golf 1.8 T GTi. Metalic Black, tinted windows, 18" (8.5" wide) Kahn RS-V's, R32 dash and door Alu kit. Plus much ICE. Need tunes in a car which already has many speakers and good build quality as standard.

The only engine mods I have done so far due to limited moola are fitting (myself) a Green DynaTwist induction kit and Forge Motorsport recirculating Dump Valve. These were purchased after reading recommendations from this site! Quality products & easy to fit!

Next I want an exhaust and better (front mounted preffered) intercooler.

The question I have is when I change gear or let my foot of the GO pedal you can clearly here air being dumped or released somewhere in the engine bay, from inside the car whilst driving and without loud tunes on! I dont think people on the street can here this but have yet to check.

Is this supposed to happen or is a problem as the dump valve is recirculating (it does have an uprated spring inside it)??
Is it noticable also because the car still has the standard s**t exhaust on?! it?!?

Any exhaust recommendations greatly recieved also please Golf guru's! Also if you know any custom exhaust makers in Leeds/West yorkshire.

Please email me if you want also at 20benson@gmail.com. First 2 people who do and want one will get a Beta Gmail email account invite. Say goodbye to hotmail!

Cheers peps!

Ben

A slight noise from the dv is normal (especially with your intake) .. but you wont hear it if you're more than about 6 feet away from the car. Add onto that an exhaust and some more free-flowing pipes around the turbo and the noise gets even louder !
As far as exhausts go.. you really cant go wrong with Milltek, its what i run on the same engine as you. You can get your local vag specialist to order these for you (i can highly recommend getting the downpipe and hi-flow cat too) and they sound absolutley brilliant.. as well as giving a good performance increase. Don't forget if you want to see the exhaust you need to get a rear valance from a V6 4motion golf, or make a cutout in your existing valance, or you can get the Milltek system that replicates the stock item and keep your existing smooth lines.
You don't mention if you're remapped or not, if not, why not ?!?  :P

as for gmail.. had it for ages mate  ;)

Hope that lot helps,
Chris.

with your engine/turbo.. revo and jabba would give the same results.
you'll be looking at about 205-210bhp and 240-ish lbft torque.
revo is cheaper (they reduced the price for AGU engines like yours a couple of months ago) .. can be done anywhere, and takes about 15 minutes. with jabba you have to visit their site, spend about 3 hours there and they mess about with soldering chips.
revo will work well with your current mods, did with mine !
and no i dont work for revo  :P
