right, this is doing my head in now. Ive finally got the money together to lower the boat and now I cant make up my mind to go shocks/springs or coilies!!! I have however, after reading up on reviews, decided its going to be Weitec either way!

Basically for £325 I can get the GTN coilies (fully adjust fronts, 10mm step adjustable rears), or £400 I can get the GT coilies (fully adjustable f&r) or £400 the ultra GT shock n springs.

The only reason im not decided on the coilies is the fact that (a) im a mechanical retard and dont really want to be fiddling with them all the time - dunno how for a start! Eg, whatever I get I will be taking to the garage to get fitted and (b) im worried about the ride being harsher than shock/springs

But having said that, the shocks kit will give me 60/50 (50/50 plus supersport top mounts which bring front down 10mm) and im worried this might cause problems with speedbumps etc on 15" rims and deep splitter

would the coilies be much harsher? The GTNs at £325 sound a bargain. Anyone heard good things about them? Oh I dunno...........thoughts much appreciated as I'm gonna get sacked if dont stop googling weitec!!!

Go for coilivers, as least you can tweak the height if needed, easy enough to do.

yeah I am leaning towards the coilies. I suppose I could ask to watch the mechanic fit them and take some notes!! are they not a harsher ride tho?

Not much difference to be honest in terms of ride.

I spent ages considering this one.. In the end i went for Koni Sport adjustables with Eibach springs.  After delving about endless suspension posts on here and having a lengthy chat with the people at Europerformance it came to be that generally, despite adjustments available, that a coilover setup will give you a more focused ride and handling.  I wanted a more real world drive setup and was encouraged to go for the Koni's..and they weren't wrong, a massive improvement over the standard items and you still get a ride you can live with!  They are quality items and a bit more expensive for a strut/spring type replacement but it proves you get what you pays for..
Just my findings anyway..

I've got coilovers on mine and it does eat corners and round abouts. But I do spend alot of time dodging pot holes tho. Just cause the I hate the noise when You go down one really.
But mine is fair low!

christo - which eibachs did you go for? sportline or pro? i did look at these cos they get great reviews but wasn't sure if they'd give a big enough drop on 15"s. what size rims you running? the koni and eibach set up would still be within my budget

Hi..well it seems the Koni's and Eibach springs are a proven good combination (Pro Kit Springs) in my case.. That means i only have about a 30mm drop alround, i didn't want to go any lower in order to maintain some comfort for everyday driving.

In the end the lower you go the more of a compromise will have to take place in terms of comfort and general drivability.. A payoff for going lower though is that cornering and handling will be far better when you want to push it.

I'm only on standard VW alloys and tire sizes by the way,

Don't allow my findings to change your mind though, from what i've read the Weitec's are also good quality..
