Help please! Car alarm
« on: 16 January 2010, 12:01 »
I had to recharge my battery last night and once I reconnected it all this morning, the alarm was going off. I have no alarm button though to turn it off. No matter what I did, lock the car, use the immobiliser, open the car, drive the car. The alarm would go off.

After about 15 minutes, the alarm finally stopped, but my hazard lights are now flashing.

Will this eventually stop , as the battery has upset the electronics. Or is there something I can?

Is it the std alarm?

I think so mate, but not 100% sure as I brought it 2nd hand last year.

Since I have had it though, I`ve only ever had to use the immobiliser to start the car and I was not given a alarm key and until it went of today had no idea a alarm was fitted.

It has not gone off since I have locked the car, but worried the alarm has reset itself when I put the battery back in, so when I go to unlock the car again, it will go off.

Is there no fuse I can take out, to disconnect the alarm? I`ve looked in the fuse box, but not one in there for it.

the bog std factory alarm works from the door locks and unlocking should turn it off (and vice versa)

That is what I thought, but it would not turn it off.

I`ll have to give it another go when I go out again soon, if I have the same problem though, is there anyway of turning the alarm off for good? Maybe disconnecting the wires under the bonnet?

have a read through this thread first and see if you can locate a siren like these as the std alarm uses the horn
otherwise see if you can see the siren and any names/codes on it

ok mate, thanks for your help. Will give it another go in a few mins and then take the horn fuse out , so if that helps.

Thanks

Still having random problems with the car alarm. It now only goes off when I open the boot and this happens even after I have been driving the car for over a hour.

Also , when I have locked the car, turned everything off, the radio will turn on.

Anyone got any ideas?
