help - tinting problems!!
« on: 09 January 2010, 11:58 »
hi peeps,
just need some advice,
im tinting my front indicators, but everytime i do it, the tint spray has gone a grey colour and gone cracked like crazy paving??
any ideas??
i cleaned them with methylated spirit and though i had got it all off, is there a chance that it still has some on and has reacted???
cheers for any help :(

Sounds like it's too cold Robz and it's blooming.

Get the indicators warm and get the tin of tint spray warm as well  then sneak it into the house while it's drying and tell the missus that it's the smell off your clothes when she starts complaining of the funny smell . It's what I did.

Hope she doesn't read this

I can't get off the drive Mate

It's been sat there since about the 28th December  been running around in the GF's Polo cos mine will only go in the direction of gravity in this weather

The little Polo is great in the snow though, just got to be really steady with your right foot though

Get some warm soapy water and some wet & dry on them and they'll be fine

just a nightmare aint it!
im having a right time with these lights m8,
just rubbed em down, the best they will go anyway!
heated the spray up a little on the radiator, heated the lights on the radiator,
sprayed them outside, straight back in the house onto to the radiator and the same has happened :(

gonna try my old fake fog with it tot see if its me or the weather, or the spray, then im stumped :(

robz try caking it on loads all at once, to a point where it almost runs ALMOST RUNS! not runs lol so it looks wet and shiney. your not suposed to do that lol but i have before and it gives a nice even shiney finish when dry. also think i had simular prob when tinting my lights, added clear lacquer after and it seem to sort the problem out. hope you get it sorted mate. i should have just posted you my lights when i wrote the golf off  :embarassed:

hey m8,
well i did it again and was using your trick there louis,
not done bad, but i think these were beyond saving,
so im gonna stick em on as they are only temporary until money comes to pay for replacment units!

gonna wait till it warms up before i do the rears cos i dont wanna make that mistake again!! lol

but thanks for that m8, much appreciated, shame this weather caught me out,
suppose ya live and learn hey!
will look fine on the car though!! :)
