Fitting an exhaust - help please!
« on: 11 January 2010, 18:33 »
Im trying to fit a replacement exhasut to my 1.6 CL Mk.3 Golf but as far as i can tell you cant seperate the cat from the down pipe meaning somehow i've got to get the whole lot up and over the steering rack. Is there any way of doing this without taking the subframe and steering rack off?

Cheers

why can't you separate? Broken bolts on the cat flange?

Mine was cut, when I fitted a new exhaust, so guess it's one piece with the cat.

either drop the subby or cut it with an angle grinder. its the same on our 1.4 SEAT, luckily the new pipes I found on ebay come in 2 pieces, so easy to fit the new one

is it the entire thing i take it? including downpipe?

i fitted a cat-back to my 1.4 and the downpipe and cat where in 1 piece. it ran from the front of the engine under the sump and under the car......

it was a bit of struggle getting it over the rear beam but i managed it.

:)

Yeah, i've got the manifold off the down pipe its still too big tho. I had to grind the old exhaust to get it off, anyway im taking the subframe off tmoz...again to fit it all.
